Abstract English

This study aims to identify linguistic weaknesses in the listening and speaking skills of learners of Arabic as a second language in Djibouti. A survey method and a questionnaire were used to collect data from 50 respondents, all of whom are Arabic teachers as a second language. The results revealed widespread linguistic weaknesses among learners in these two skills, starting with speaking and then listening, from the perspective of the study sample. The results were discussed, accompanied by some proposals that might help mitigate these weaknesses in line with the context of teaching Arabic as a second language in Djibouti. The study concluded with recommendations and implications for future research

الملخص العربي

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى رصد مظاهر الضعف اللغوي في مهارتي الاستماع والمحادثة لدى متعلمي العربية لغة ثانية في جيبوتي، وقد استخدمت الطريقة المسحية وأداة الاستبانة لجمع البيانات من 50 مستجوبا، من معلّمي العربية لغة ثانية. وكشفت النتائج عن انتشار مظاهر الضعف اللغوي بين المتعلمين في هاتين المهارتين، بدءا بالمحادثة، ثم الاستماع، وذلك من وجهة نظر عينة الدراسة. وقد نوقشت النتائج مصحوبة ببعض المقترحات التي قد تساعد في تخفيف هذه المظاهر بما يتوافق مع سياق تعليم العربية لغة ثانية في جيبوتي، وختمت الدراسة بالتوصيات والمضامين البحثية المستقبلية
