Abstract English

This study examines the image of the father in Saleh Al-Ghufeili’s autobiography “My Life Journey” through a psycho-narrative lens. It employs tools from modern psychological theory—particularly Freud’s view that literary texts are largely emotional products shaped by unconscious stimuli—alongside narrative techniques to trace and interpret the father’s representation and its explicit and implicit meanings. The father’s image emerges as complex and psychologically charged. The narrator appears torn between an unconscious urge to settle unresolved conflicts with his father and a conscious attempt to construct an idealized paternal figure. However, this idealized image collapses when confronted with the contradictory, textually revealed father shaped by the unconscious. Writing becomes a therapeutic process through which the narrator heals his longstanding wound caused by his father’s departure. By concluding the autobiography, he symbolically closes old files and transforms the father, through narrative recovery, into a figure resembling ordinary fathers.

الملخص العربي

يسعى هذا البحث لدراسة صورة الأب في سيرة صالح الغفيلي الذاتية «مشوار حياتي » دراسة سردية نفسية مستعينًًا ببعض أدوات المنهج النفسي وفق نظريات علم النفس الحديثة خاصة لدى سيجموند فرويد الذي رأى أن النص الأدبي في معظمه أثر شعوري لمحفزات نفسية لا شعورية، مع الإفادة من الأساليب الفنية والتقنيات السردية، للإحاطة بصورة الأب ورصدها وتتبع كيفية تشكلها واستخلاص دلالاتها الظاهرة وا لمضمرة. وقد اتسمت صورة الأب في النموذج السردي المدروس بحضور معقد ما أفضى إلى نتائج دالة منها تشكل صورة الأب على خلفية نفسية شابها بعض الاضطراب حاول فيها السارد مقاومة رغبته النفسية بتصفية حسابات قديمة عبر ادعاءات مشتهاة بصورة أب زاهية لم تصمد أمام صورة الأب بالنص بصفته لا شعورًًا وهي صورة مناقضة. ينجح السارد بالتعافي من جرحه النفسي القديم المتعلق برحيل أبيه بواسطة الكتابة فيصفى الحسابات ويغلق الملفات ويسدل الستار ويضع نقطة النهاية، بما يحوّّل الأب لحظة إتمام كتابة السيرة بفعل عملية التعافي السردي إلى أب يشبه الآباء الآخرين.
