Abstract English

This study examines Ahmed Al-Harbi’s novel Arab Rabi as a narrative text that raises issues related to literary genre and textual identity, after it was reprinted three times consecutively under different titles and classifications without changing the text. The study focuses on analysing the thresholds of the text in the novel and their role in constructing meaning, and traces the mechanisms of subjectification and genre confusion in relation to the cultural and social contexts of narrative discourse. Using a semiotic approach based on Gérard Genette’s theory of thresholds and supported by cultural semiotics, the research analyses the title, literary genre, author’s name and cover icons in relation to the narrative text. The study concludes that changes in thresholds have contributed to the reorientation of the novel’s textual identity and the generation of overlap between literary genres.

الملخص العربي

يتناول هذا البحث رواية عرب ربّي لأحمد الحربي، بوصفها نصًا سرديًا يطرح إشكاليات متصلة بتجنيسه وهويته النصية، في ضوء إعادة نشره ثلاث مرات خلال فترات متقاربة بعناوين وتصنيفات مختلفة مع ثبات المتن. وتنصرف الدراسة إلى تحليل العتبات النصية المصاحبة للرواية، والكشف عن دورها في بناء الدلالة، وفي توجيه القراءة، من خلال تتبّع آليات التذويت والتعمية التجنيسية في علاقتها بالسياقات الثقافية والاجتماعية للخطاب السردي. وقد اعتمد البحث المنهج السيميائي، مستندًا إلى سيميائيات العتبات عند جيرار جينيت، ومدعومًا بالسيميائيات الثقافية، لتحليل العنوان، والتجنيس، واسم المؤلف، وأيقونات الغلاف، وصلتها بالمتن الروائي من حيث البنية والدلالة. وتخلص الدراسة إلى أن تحولات العتبات أسهمت في إعادة توجيه الهوية النصية للرواية، و تداخلًا تجنيسيًا يكشف طبيعة العلاقة بني النص وسياقات تلقيه الثقايف واالجتامعي َ
